I swear, ipso facto this isn't some "omg my cat is so funny" blog - because other people's cats are not interesting

...and personally, there's nothing more boring than a blog littered with, err, cat litter. In fact, once I read a blog (for precisely one minute) which was about a bloke AND HIS CAT and I have never clicked an "x" and "unsubscribe" with more vigor. Dogs, on the other hand, now they can hold their own on a website. Cats need some sort of caption. You have to know a cat in order to find whatever it's doing vaguely interesting or amusing, so why people insist on making them a staple part of their public blogs is beyond me.

But - shit the bed, right - I came so close today.

My mum came into my room all "BAHAHAHHAA come and look at the cat!" and I'm thinking, I'm well comfy on my beanbag watching Eastenders, this better be good, this better rival the time she fell in the bin when we were taking the rubbish out. So all three of us, mum, dad and myself, went trundling into the spare room for a game of "what mischievous jaunt is that cat up to now" and to cut a long story short, she was curled up in my empty ski boot bag.

Now for some inane reason, I grabbed my camera phone. I snapped not one, but THREE photos of the cat in my Salomon boot bag. Then I skipped back into my room and bluetoothed them to my laptop. I opened up a new blog post. Ladies and gents, if we're going to be honest, I'm embarrassed just typing this. This post was so nearly a picture of my boot bag, then the cat in my boot bag and some crap, quirky sentence like "Looks like I'm not the only one who can't wait to go skiing" - that I'm ashamed to admit how close I actually came.

My cat is cool, funny and interesting...to me. Your cat is cool, funny and interesting...to you. Let's not pretend our cats will entertain each other.

Sorry. Let's move on.

Well, I am sure there are people who love cutesy cat blogs. But I don't suppose many of them visit here.

It is weird though how cats always head straight for bags and boxes. My cat used to do the same.

I dunno, that does sound funny (except your joke, you would had to come up with something a little less obvious I feel)
But the missus knows this GREAT cat blog. A photo cat blog, with captions (And not icanhascheezeberger captions)

It's well worth checking out, although you should skip past todays top story, that's just a but silly and totally out of sync with the rest of the blog.

It might make you post your photo up.

If I didn’t have a reputation as an urban sophisticate to protect I would ask you to email the pic. I like cat pix. I had two cats for 14 years. Girlfriends would come and go but those two cats were always there for me. Pathetic, I know.

Hmm, I dunno... it's not like you're posting cat pictures on a regular basis. The occasional one can be entertaining, and I *do* generally find other people's cats cute and vaguely entertaining.

Then again, I am probably going to end up as Crazy Cat Lady, with two dozen cats and a rocking chair, so I'm not likely to be the best person to give an opinion about the appropriateness of cats on blogs.

::: goes off to look at the daisythecurlycat blog :::

I really don't get why people make blogs that focus the animal as the blogger.
Like once I found this blog, by wacking the Next Blog link, (dangerous tool that is) that was written as if a hamster was blogging about himself. All very odd if you ask me.

Reluctant - My cat bloody loves boxes and dark places. And the neighbour's house, apparently.

Robbie - Maybe I'll check out that cat blog. Maybe. Maybe. When cats fly. BAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Unbearable - Ah man, the picture isn't even that interesting. If I've lost interest, and the cat has (she's moved now), then you probably will too.

Hails - I find other people's dogs quite cool, but most cats just look the same to me. Even ones that clearly don't look the same kind of look the same. Like a ginger and a tabby cat. They all have the same kind of face. Ish.

Elaine - Don't worry, stories about cats are ok. Anyway, your blog is more about cat poo than actual cats. Ranting about how stupid cats are for pooing on your kitchen floor is fine in my book.

Miss Maturity - That's just well odd. A hamster? Don't they only live for about a year? Bit morbid, that. What happens when it dies?

clarissa - now THAT sounds funny

and there was me just saying they all looked the same.

Is that cat racism??

Oh sod it, just post the picture. Cats sleeping in odd positions are always mildly amusing especially seeing as my cat does absolutly nothing of any interest or amusement whatsoever.

Sadly, we'll never know the answer.. I closed the page as fast as I could fearing for my safety and sanity.

I'm glad you came to your senses, because that would have been the end of our beautiful relationship.
