Yummy Sunday

Today was a good day.

There's something so relaxing about starting your lazy day at 3pm, meeting a friend at Notting Hill station before wondering along the Portobello Road, stopping for a hot chocolate and a perfectly formed cupcake, then popping in and out of shops half an hour before closing time when the crowds have gone home. Even when it started to absolutely bucket down with rain, it was just a good excuse for a glass of Pinot Grigio in the nearest pub. Then we ambled back up the road again, I bought a dress and a jumper I'd seen earlier and that was that. Home time.

I whinge about it a lot, but sometimes, just sometimes, London is the best place to be even when it's drizzly and miserable outside.

Plus, there's something nice about a day when the hardest decision you make is whether to have a chocolate or vanilla cupcake. Clearly, the answer should always be "both, and one in a box to takeaway, please."

Please refer back to this post the next time you ask yourself why you work so hard and put up with so much bullshit.

Strangely enough, I love London in the rain. As long as I have my coat with me of course!

How long did the cup cakes last then?

Cup cakes are my new addiction. Strangely Sainsburys does excellent chocolate ones. I can never resist the 3 for 2 offer and always eat the spare one :)

unbearable - Ahh, good point. Next time I am shoved into a train carriage sniffing someones armpit, I will think of cupcakes.

pjb - the good thing is that London isn't going anywhere. It will be just as miserable, rainy and grotty when you come back to visit. You'll just appreciate it more.

robbie - It's lovely. Sickly sweet but absolutely mmmmmm

perpetual - the one I ate in the shop lasted precisely 5 seconds. The one I took home will hopefully have made it through the day with my mum and dad in the house...

wee-h - and also, because they're so small, it's a bit like they don't really exist. So it doesn't really matter that they're bad for you.
