To the beautiful, handsome, gorgeous, lovely...

This is my favourite bit of my free evening paper. I'm not sure what it is about this tiny little column that appears near the back pages, but I always wish there was a bigger section for it.

It's like a list of missed opportunities, and in those two sentences you can imagine these people at opposite ends of the tube, catching each other's eye, neither of them having the guts to say hello and both of them regretting it afterwards.

Then I always wonder if anyone ever gets in touch, recognising a description of themselves after seeing an ad like this. I remember a few months ago, a bloke launched an appeal in a free London paper looking for a girl he'd met at and then lost at a festival. She saw his appeal in the paper and got in touch and a few days later there was a spread of them reunited.

I always kind of hope that the same happens for the people on the lovestruck pages, because regret is almost worse than rejection; isn't it?

There was a time I would have killed for a column like this.

Doubtless though, the reply I'd have got would have been 'sod off, stalker!'... and I'd probably have deserved it too.

Is regret better than rejection? That's a BIG question...

We have an 'I saw you' in our edinburgh listings magazine. im sad and like reading it in the hope that someone would have noticed me asleep on the no.25 bus in the mornings...

One of the guys in our office once caught a glimpse of a Brazilian girl in the crowd at a world cup match. He vowed that he would track her down and marry her. I don't know how he did it but he found her and talked her into coming back to live with him in England. Sounds all very impressive until you find out that he was already living with someone. The threesome went on for some months until his original girlfriend came to her senses and moved out. The last I heard the creep had knocked up his Brazilian beauty who then left him or was kicked out and returned to Brazil. Does not sound that romantic to me just a bid sad and sordid.

Aw I love it! Like modern day fairy tales... (if any of them work out!) Surely every girl reads them and hopes to read a description of herself.

But, then again, I wonder how many are just weird stalkers!

You think thats good? You should check out Craig's List missed connections... you could look these things up for any city that you are in.

Some are weird, some are funny, but I check them whenever I'm bored and I've read on a certain girl's blog that she has found someone that wrote about her!

I would always like to read these sorts of columns but find myself quickly and scaredly flipping through to the next page just in case someone catches me reading it and thinks "Pah! No-one's ever gonna write about you - so what the ruddy hell you doing looking for a message, you desperate old harridan!". Perhaps it's time to start taking the pills.

I've never seen this column before! What have I been missing?!

At first I thought, 'awwww!' but then the prospect of scary knife-wielding bus stalkers came into play.

Interesting though. Very interesting.

You don't know WHO could be watching you...

It all sounded really sweet and cute at first and I know I'd probably read the column avidly, if only to see if I could spot any of those people.

I'd be horrified though if I saw a description of me in there, knowing some creepo had been eyeing me up with dodgy intentions...
